Compatriot Bill Schmitz attended the the annual Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation Ball held at the Taj Mahal on June, 13 2009. The foundation provides financial aid for education, special needs and care for children of US Marines and Federal Law Enforcement Agency employees killed in the line of duty. The Ball was attended by nearly 500 people including the Commandant of the Marine Corps and 9 living Medal of Honor recipients.

Cadet First Sargeant Sergio Ceron is the recipient of the 2009-10 academic year Outstanding Cadet from the Pleasantville High School US Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Battalion.  The award, the Bronze ROTC medal, is awarded by the National Society of the Sons of the American revolution.  These awards were presented on May 8, 2010 by Major William F. Schmits, USAF (retired) at the annual military ball.  Maj. Schmitz is Vice-President of the Colonel Richard Somers Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.
