Norm Goos and  Earl Cain went on an adventure a few weeks ago to find a place called Petticoat Bridge.   And, they found it.  It is about a mile off Rt. 206 near Columbus, NJ and is the site of an important event that took place December 23rd, 1776.  A group of about 600 NJ Militia fooled the British/Hessians into thinking they were a group of about 3000 and were going to attack Trenton from the East.  They drew a large force of Hessians away from the Trenton area and helped assure that General Washington’s attack on Christmas was successful.  My Patriot was at the battle and was subsequently wounded.

Local “historian”, Rob Reid is working on getting copies of the Chestnut Neck “map” made.   He has an amazing map collection and will also provide the Chapter with a copy of two extremely old  (1600’s) South Jersey maps. Rob is also helping find copies of Rev. period flags for our museum area in Chestnut Neck.

Plan’s to photograph an amazing mural; being donated to our Chapter, is underway.  A friend and professional photographer, John Shields from Port Republic, will be examining it in the near future.  John photographed our memorial service last October at Chestnut Neck and presented the Chapter with the 200 fantastic photos of the event that many of you have seen.  We hope that John can capture it.  You will all want a copy.
