Lee Ireland, Ph.D., author of Place Names of the Jersey Shore – Why Did They Name it That? was the featured speaker for our July 14, 2011 meeting.   Since his new book, “Place Names of the Jersey Shore-Why Did They Name it That?” was published, Lee has been interviewed on WOND radio, had the book covered by the Press of Atlantic City and did book signings in Smithville and at Borders Books. Sun Rose Books in Ocean City and Antique Row in Seaville now carry the book. 
 
Lee’s presentation on how the places in Atlantic and Cape May counties were named is augmented with slides that depict the towns, roads and waterways.  Lee has graciously consented to allow us to post the video below .
