The Colonel Richard Somers Chapter Sons of the American Revolution is comprised predominantly of revolutionary descendants living in Atlantic and Cape May counties New Jersey.

Members of our Chapter met at Chestnut Neck recently with David and Tricia Johnston.  David is President of the Stephen Holston Chapter, TNSSAR and is descended from one of “our” Privateer Captains, Joseph Edwards, Captain of the Luck and Fortune.

Despite the ferocious, seagull sized mosquitoes, David and Tricia took the time to get familiar with the site. It was David’s first visit to South Jersey.  We then adjourned to a much friendlier atmosphere, but still historic Smithville Village. At Fred and Ethel’s over coffee and iced tea, we had a chance to compare notes on our two Chapters.  David announced that he would honor us by applying for a dual membership with Col. Richard Somers Chapter.

Our monthly meeting is Thursday, July 9, 2009, 7:00PM, Point Diner – Somers Point.

Our Chapter meets on the second Thursday of every month, at 7:00PM, at the Point Diner, in Somers Point, NJ.
